Reach Food Group recently took a big step in strengthening ties with Japanese suppliers by attending the JFEX Japan Food Export Show. This event was not just about business – it was about exploring new opportunities and deepening our connection with the incredible people and traditions behind Japan’s world-class food products.
Our team – Mark Huggins (International Development Director), George Gergouse (Group Purchasing Manager, EMEA), and Mamadou Diop (Senior Category Manager) – set out to build on existing relationships and forge new ones with producers, artisans, exporters and suppliers. It was an exciting opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen partnerships.
By collaborating directly with Japanese suppliers, we guarantee that our extensive selection of fresh, frozen, and ambient products adheres to the highest quality standards. This close partnership with expert producers allows us to offer superior produce with greater efficiency and at more competitive prices, benefiting our customers worldwide.
A real standout moment of the trip was visiting the iconic Toyosu Fish Market – the largest in the world. Watching a live tuna auction and chatting with fishermen gave the team a front-row seat to Japan’s legendary fishing culture. Mark, George and Mamadou also had the privilege of meeting organic Wagyu farmers and 12th-generation miso artisans, who shared their innovative approaches and centuries-old traditions.
This experience reaffirmed our commitment to bringing the best of Japan to our customers worldwide. With every connection we make, we’re not just sourcing products – we’re building partnerships rooted in trust, respect, and a shared passion for exceptional food.
